We did it! We set a Guinness World Record.
Thanks to the support of the always amazing Mozilla community, we now hold a Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours. On June 18, 2008 8,002,530 people downloaded Firefox 3 and are now enjoying a safer, smarter and better Web.
I’ve also received My Certificate Of Participation. Like to thank all my friends for their kind support.

In an earlier posting I wrote about some important changes to the CAN-SPAM regulations would soon take effect…
Yes, The Federal Trade Commission’s latest updates to the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act of 2003 (CAN-SPAM) will become enforceable on July 7, 2008. So, it’s prime time to take a closer look at the updates – and at CAN-SPAM in general.
Some Good News:
- CAN-SPAM terminology is now better defined, giving marketers clearer standards – that’s a baby step in the right direction.
- We know exactly who a “sender” is now.
- The FTC kept the 10-day mandatory opt-out requirement in place after mulling cutting it to three days.
- Nothing in CAN-SPAM will get you in legal trouble if you are sending *permission-based* emails.
- The FTC will not designate additional “aggravated violations.” In other words, it won’t go out of its way to engage in witch hunts.

eBay shocked the internet marketing world when it recently announced that it would no longer allow the sale of digital download products. This move effectively shuts down an income stream for many sellers of eBooks, softwares, and digital videos that relied on the instant download support provided by eBay.
